Basics of Creating a Landing Page


Landing page is an entrance to a particular website. It is normally used to attract the visitors and searches to your website. Landing page is present in the form of add with small and unique sentences and vocabulary. The contents of the landing page are eye catching and should be able to answer the questions of its visitors. It should not be very complex. The design and structure of landing page should be very simple. With the help of landing page a person will directly land on a particular page of his interest without going through a lot of options.


Following are some basic rules which can be helpful for you and your visitors when they visit a landing page.

1 – Distractions

Try to remove all the distractions from your landing page. If there are other options present on your landing page the visitor will want to visit them as well. By doing this the purpose of your landing page will not be fulfilled. Give your clear offer to them. Remove any external hyperlinks. Logo of your website should be unclick able as well otherwise the person will directly reach the homepage of your website. When person has nowhere else to go he will give his full attention and focus on your offer and landing page.

2 – Attention of Your Readers

After removing all the distractions you should grab the attention of your readers. Try giving the bold and eye catching headlines. The readers will be more interested in our landing page if they are given a clear view of they should expect from your website and page. After the headlines don’t forget to add other options. For example if you are giving an option  of filling the form try adding another option related to your page like “starting free trial”. This will be helpful for the promotion of your website as well.

3 – Images and Videos

Bold and attention catching headlines are not enough to make your visitors stay on the landing page. You should add some images and videos as well. Make sure that both of these things do not distract your visitors from your original goal. Do not use more than two images and make sure the video is not lengthy otherwise your visitors will get bored and want to leave the page without knowing the original purpose of your landing page.

4 – Form

When a person visits your landing page than your conversion form should be the first thing he should see. You have small amount of time to convince your visitor about your goal therefore they should see the form first and will not have to scroll down for form. This will save your visitors from confusion as well.

5 – Questions

Don’t ask a lot of questions to your visitors just start with the basic ones.  The limit of questions should be from 3 to 10.  Ask some basic questions like name, fathers name and phone number before any detailed questions.
